Bimal Projects

The making of art in the post-contemporary – redefinition of roles/ethics

A number of recent trends in contemporary art have taken as their focus the relationship of the artist to the institutions of the culture industry. Somewhere in the midst of these new realities Bimal Projects is launched. As an activist, ironic and critical investigation of the new intricate web of cultural possibilities where an artist becomes curator, producer, mediator and agent provocateur. Blurring these distinctions becomes a radical gesture in a kind of realignment of what it means to be an artist in the institutional and community sense.
Understanding the cultural industry as something beyond the boundaries of the art world.

The logo depicts the name “Bimal” in Bengali characters. “Bimal” is an Indian name, it means clean, unblemished
